"Dogs have always been a huge part of my life, I've grown up with rescue dogs of all kinds and have always taken in whichever dog needed a home at the time. Currently I'm the proud owner of Pirri, a rescue Galgo. That love of giving dogs a second change is the heart of why I am involved with Labrador Welfare.

I am a canine massage therapist which means I get to combine my professional knowledge of dog wellbeing and rehabilitation with my passion for rescue dogs. Over the years I have also helped with fundraising, home checking, supporting the vital work that keeps the charity running and helps more Labradors find their forever homes.

Being part of Labrador Welfare is incredible rewarding - I love helping dogs and their new families start the next chapter together."

"Labradors have been a constant source of joy, companionship, fun and inspiration in my life, and supporting this incredible breed and charity has become something I care deeply about. I have been lucky enough to have grown up around Labradors and my wife and I currently own a beautiful Yellow Labrador called Millie who is nearly 12 years old. We very sadly lost our gorgeous Black Labrador Ella last year. Labradors have such a gentle, kind nature, and are loved by all. They are such a special breed. I’m passionate about helping Labs get the love, care, and second chances they deserve. Whether it’s raising awareness, liaising with owners, I’m committed to making a positive difference for these wonderful dogs. Being part of a charity that shares this mission means a lot to me, and I’m proud to contribute to the wellbeing of a breed that gives so much joy to the world.

In my professional career I was previously a dog home boarder and I have a diploma in Canine Health and Nutrition as well as completing lots of short courses in animal care. I am currently a Dog Walker and live in the North East of the country.

I enjoy going on holidays with my wife & Millie in the UK. We enjoy holidays together abroad and I enjoy walking, exploring new places, meals out, swimming, badminton and watching Football and Rugby Union."

"As someone who has had a love of dogs and horses from a very early age, I have been lucky enough to have been able to spend my working life doing what I love.

I am a qualified BHSII instructor and I spent 30 years working with horses in the equestrian field, always with dogs beside me.

Over the last six years I have worked as a veterinary receptionist alongside dog walking and training. I am passionate about animal welfare and helping animals in need. Being a Rehoming Coordinator for Labrador Welfare is very rewarding work.

I live with my partner Chris, on the Yorkshire Coast, with Hattie the Dalmatian, Mouse the Springer Spaniel and the occasional emergency foster dog!"

"I grew up with a Labrador and my children are now growing up with their grandparents' Labrador, Rosie who visits us nearly every day to shed her glitter, drink our dogs' water bowls dry and remind me my house isn't big enough for a lab!

I love Labradors and their wiggly tummies, waggy tails and butts, goofy expressions but also for their intelligence, loyalty and their love of life.

I am a qualified, experienced dog groomer and I have volunteered for Hearing Dogs for the Deaf in the past, helping raise and train assistance dog puppies.

Helping out at Labrador Welfare is very rewarding when we get to see the dogs settled and happy in their new homes, knowing we made that happen, as a team.

I live with my two teenagers and our two (small) mixed breed dogs Ruby & Rocky in Bedfordshire but I went to university in the Barnsley area so I know South Yorkshire pretty well."

I love all dogs but have a soft spot for labs. In the past I have helped with vet visits, picking up dogs for rehoming and done follow up visits as well as fund raising.

I've made incredible friends

and loved every minute of it!"

"I am delighted to be a volunteer for such an incredible small charity: Labrador Welfare. I adore dogs and have owned dogs all my life, mainly gun dogs.

Labradors are most definitely my thing: being loyal, friendly, intelligent, eager-to-please as well as the fact that they love walking, swimming and retrieving all combine to make it impossible not to love them. Apart from one of my dogs, my husband and I have always opted to offer a home to a dog who needs, for whatever reason, a new start in life.

We know, from the many, many happy years we have shared with dogs rehomed to us, that this is the best decision we could possibly have made. Traditionally, we have also opted always to have two dogs who provide companionship and example to each other, but there have been times when we have had three dogs: an exciting time!!

Currently, we share our lives with two wonderful girls, Cass and Lexi. Cass is nearly 16 and a half and still loves life.

Labrador Welfare supports people who, sadly and for whatever reason, may need to seek a new home for their labrador. Labrador Welfare liaises wonderfully with and supports people who open their homes and hearts to a rehomed labrador.

I feel honoured and delighted to volunteer for this amazing charity."

Thank you to all our Volunteers!

The core team are fortunate in being able to call on a small but very dedicated group of other volunteers who give their time freely to assist with very important aspects of the charity’s work such as home visits, transport and fundraising.

All of the team at Labrador Welfare are also indebted to the staff at kennels and our foster carers who care for and work with dogs needing our help to find new homes.
